Task Forces

Past and present

How we embed this work across campus

Division leadership and staff lead, guide, and support change through their work on initiatives, committees, and task-forces. 

  • Advisory Board – A collection of individuals who bring unique knowledge and skills which augment the knowledge and skills of a VC or executive leader in order to provide guidance in decision making.
  • Committee – A group of people appointed for a specific function with a specific charge. This could be a part of a larger group.
  • Initiative - An emergent, timely,  plan,  process or intervention to achieve something or solve a problem. It includes specific, measurable action steps.
  • Standing Committee – A committee that meets regularly for a defined period of time
  • Task Force – Temporary grouping under one leader for the purpose of accomplishing a defined objective

Roles:

  • Executive Sponsor – The department, division, or executive that the chancellor charges to be responsible for the committee, setting the agenda, understanding committee rules, facilitating meetings, preparing briefings for the chancellor or senior leadership, and lifting resolutions or recommendations from the committee via reports or executive summaries 
  • Chair or Co-Chair - Experts on the topic discussed;  set agenda, understand committee rules, facilitate meetings, prepare briefings for executive sponsor/leadership, and lift up resolutions or recommendations from the committee via reports or executive summaries
  • Committee Staff – Works closely with the co-chairs managing meeting logistics, such as sending correspondence to committee members, agenda preparation, maintaining roster/contact information; preparing discussion materials, meeting notes/minutes, invitations for guest speakers.
