The campus will hold a memorial service Thursday, December 8th from 12 to 1 pm at Zellerbach Hall.

The official death toll from Oakland's warehouse fire has been updated to include two UC Berkeley students, two recent graduates and a community volunteer at the campus radio station.The Berkeley campus is grieving the losses and is mourning along with the families, wide circles of friends, coworkers and others who knew the young people in and out of the classroom, and in the Bay Area arts community.

For Americans horrified by the fatal fire in Oakland, many did the only thing they could: open their wallets.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars have poured into two principal fund-raising campaigns since the warehouse fire in the city's Fruitvale neighborhood on Friday left at least 36 people dead.

"We are overwhelmed with the amount of support," said Josette Melchor, founder of Gray Area Foundation for the Arts in San Francisco, which set up a fund-raising drive on Youcaring.com on Saturday.

The death count from the Oakland warehouse fire remained at 36 Tuesday morning, and officials said they do not expect to recover more victims from the ruins of the building. "Based on the areas that remain unsearched, I don't anticipate it going up," Battalion Chief Robert Lipp said of the death toll at a 6 a.m. press conference.

UC Berkeley student Jenny Morris has been identified as a victim of the Oakland warehouse fire that took place Friday night, according to her friend, Christopher Jadallah. The status of UC Berkeley student Vanessa Plotkin, Morris' roommate who was reported to be missing after the fire, is still unconfirmed.
