Disability Access & Compliance
In partnership with the Vice Chancellor of Administration, we are introducing a comprehensive plan for the division and its associated programs and units to reach full compliance by the 2024-25 academic year.
Each director and unit is responsible for reviewing the phase, evaluating whether it applies to them, implementing the practice, and filling out Divisional ADA Compliance Spreadsheet to confirm compliance. Some of the phases may not apply to your individual or unit’s work; directors may use their discretion to determine what applies.
Areas of Compliance:
- Telephone Communication
- Communication Accommodations [CART, ASL & VRIS, ALDs; what are they and who is responsible for providing them]
- Events: Planning and Hosting
- Physical Space
- Accessible Press and Public Information
- Publications and Written Materials
- Discrimination, Non-Discrimination and Grievance Procedures
- Inclusive Hiring and Employment
- Evacuation and Safety Plans
- Faculty
- Information Technology
- Service Dogs and Emotional Support Animals
- Purchasing: Accessibility & the Procurement Process
- Miscellaneous Services, Programs and Activities
- And more!
If your unit runs into any issues or has questions, Derek Coates has offered his services to help walk you through the process and he is extremely helpful!
