UC Berkeley is moving forward as quickly as possible on a complex, ambitious building program that will help to address earthquake safety and shortages of affordable housing, classrooms, and up-to-date laboratory space, UC Chancellor Carol Christ said yesterday.

I am pleased to provide an update on the important work of our Undergraduate Student Diversity Project. Launched in December 2018, the project is focused on expanding undergraduate diversity on our campus and creating more support and a stronger sense of belonging for each member of the Berkeley community.

We are aware of an offensive video that has been posted on social media. We have heard and understand the strong reactions and condemnations that have followed, including from women and members of our Black and LGBTQIA+ communities, all of whom were specifically mentioned in the video.

Today marks the start of United Against Hate Week. Across the Bay Area, individuals, schools, municipalities, and a broad range of civic organizations are holding events designed to catalyze the awareness and actions necessary to confront hatred in its every form. I am proud that many of our students are participating in this essential effort. Dear Campus Community, 

Today the University of California will appear before the U.S. Supreme Court to argue that the Trump administration acted unlawfully when it decided to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. 

We want each member of our community to know that regardless of immigration status, you are an essential part of this university, and we will continue to be unequivocal in our support of you and work towards providing a safe and supportive environment for you.
