October 16, 2018

Message from Stephen C. Sutton, vice chancellor or student affairs.

Dear campus community:

I am excited to announce the appointment of Olufemi “Femi” Ogundele as Berkeley’s new assistant vice chancellor and director of undergraduate admissions. He will start in this role on January 1, 2019.

Femi joins Berkeley with significant experience in domestic and international undergraduate admissions, and a track record of applying best practices in outreach and recruitment strategies, developing inclusive office environments, and advocating for underrepresented students. We are absolutely thrilled to have him on board.

Femi currently serves as the assistant dean for diversity outreach at Stanford University, where he provides vision and leadership for undergraduate admissions outreach initiatives targeting LGBTQ+, undocumented, disadvantaged and first-generation students. He has developed partnerships with national associations, foundations, and organizations to search out the nation’s most promising students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds in higher education. He is the Ivy+ co-chair of the Association of Black Admissions and Financial Aid Officers of the Ivy League and Sister Schools and serves as teaching faculty for the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Guiding the Way to Inclusion conference. He also presents on diversity and provides equity evaluation counsel to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program.
