You Experience Matters

March 4, 2019

Dear Campus Community,

We are excited to write and encourage everyone - students, staff, and faculty - to set aside time to take the My Experience survey. This is a confidential survey to capture your experiences, perceptions, and thoughts about the campus and workplace climate, and how we can make Berkeley a better place to learn and work.

The information you share will help inform the campus about where to invest resources in support of important priorities: building community, enhancing the student experience, and increasing diversity in every form among faculty, staff, and students. The survey will also inform strategic planning for campus programs and innovations.

My Experience was designed for UC Berkeley by community members across campus and is a follow-up to the systemwide 2013 Campus Climate Survey. While some of the 2013 survey questions are included, our UC Berkeley survey team added additional areas of particular interest to Berkeley such as basic needs security and mental health care. It also includes additional questions that focus on your experiences in campus units as well as academic and administrative departments.

The survey is available beginning today through April 25th. You must be 18 years old to participate. Please click on this link to start now.  Enter your Cal Net ID, and you will be taken to the survey.  My Experience is confidential. Identifiers such as your name, email address, and SID/EID number will not be linked to the survey results for any of the analysis. Everyone who completes the survey is eligible to enter a random drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card as well as other prizes. Visit the My Experience website to learn more.

The survey is designed to be accessible for screen readers. Printed surveys are available to staff members upon request in English, Spanish, and Chinese (simplified and traditional characters).

Your willingness to share your experiences, perceptions, and wisdom is essential as we share the responsibility to create a campus culture that supports equity of experience, builds belonging in all of our spaces, and becomes a place where everyone realizes their full authentic selves.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the My Experience survey. The results will be made public in Fall 2019 along with initial recommendations based on the findings.

Sincerely,
Carol Christ
