Program Coordinator for Latinxs and the Environment Program (CLSD & LSRC)
How long have you been at Berkeley?
I've been at Cal since 2017, when I started as an undergraduate student. I received my Bachelor in Environmental Earth Science in 2021, and later that year I joined the CLSD (Chicanx Latinx Student Development Office) team as a staff member.
What do you love most about working here?
My favorite part about my job is getting to meet with students, learning about their experiences, and helping them navigate their time at Berkeley. Most of my work days are spent at the LSRC (Latinx Student Resource Center). I enjoy taking a break from my meetings and checking in with our front desk interns to see how their day is going. A favorite memory I have is when we took a trip to Mexico City this past summer with our interns. Through the ALIANZAMX grant, L&E (Latinxs and the Environment Program) funded a trip for 10 students from Cal and UC Davis, where we were able to visit Oaxaca and Mexico City.
What's your job?
I'm the Program Coordinator of the Latinxs and the Environment Program (L&E). L&E was founded at UC Berkeley in 2017 as a program that fosters knowledge and promotes research on the relationship between the Latinx community and environmental issues. As a proud partner of the Chicanx Latinx Student Development Office (CLSD), L&E focuses on holistic student retention, ensuring students have the support needed to thrive in all aspects of their lives, including social and personal development.
Where's your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the LSRC! My favorite view on campus is the fifth-floor balcony at McCone Hall, where I spent most of my undergraduate years studying ☀️
Fun fact about me:
I recently started my sourdough journey! Any tips on how to keep my starter, Patricia, alive are greatly appreciated :)
