Director of the Re-entry Student Program
What's your job?
I work as the Director of the Re-entry Student Program.
How long have you been at Berkeley?
I have been at Berkeley for about four years. My first role was working with undergraduate students in the Physics Department. I then began my role in the Re-entry Student Program in September 2024.
What do you love most about working here?
The re-entry student community is the most driven, passionate, and impressive student community that I have had the opportunity to work with. I’ve also felt very fortunate to have such a supportive community of colleagues within CE3. This support has made starting a new job an easy and comfortable transition.
What's a great day at work look like for you?
Working with colleagues on a new initiative or project, getting the chance to connect with our incredible Peer Advising team, and taking needed breaks to stretch my legs and get outside.
What do you hope will be different in your work this time next year?
I hope that every re-entry student on campus will understand the community that they are a part of. This means that they are aware of their identity and are familiar with the services and resources that we have available for them. We have been increasing our outreach efforts by connecting with admitted students and participating more actively in Golden Bear Welcome. Our students are also very enthusiastic and active recruiters as they often pull aside peers in class or on the sidewalk to ask if they are familiar with the Re-entry Student Program.
Where's your favorite place on campus?
I love midday campus walks especially when I need a little extra sunshine and a break. I will go out of my way to pass through the eucalyptus grove, walk along Strawberry Creek, or find some shade near redwoods.
Fun fact about me:
I am an untalented but undeterred aspiring artist! I have been taking ceramics classes at the Berkeley Art Studio and trying out painting at home.
