Branding
Berkeley Brand Guidelines: For further brand support and training, please refer to the campus brand website.
Colors
Our color palette helps us express our personality and elevate our identity — leading with Berkeley Blue and California Gold. Using color appropriately is one of the easiest ways to make sure our materials reflect a cohesive image or visual story. The UC Berkeley color palette has two layers: primary and secondary palettes.
Check out the "Find a color pairing" tool on the UC Berkeley brand site (navigate to Visual Identity > Color and scroll to the bottom of the page). This tool allows you to pick any brand color and will return a list of color pairing that are acceptable under the Web Content Accessibility (WCAG) guidelines. Bringing all of our websites into alignment with WCAG guidelines is a top priority, and so please use this tool as a reference when applying the new brand colors to your site(s) and other digital content.

Graphic Design Support & Ordering Branded Items
Please share all major external materials (reports, new websites) with the E&I Communications team to confirm alignment with approved language and design.
If you are responsible for ordering merchandise or apparel for your team or upcoming events, be sure to review the licensing requirements to protect UC Berkeley’s Intellectual Property. The Licensing Program works to strengthen and advance the image of the University while creating brand awareness in the retail marketplace. Campus Intellectual Property on products, no matter what the use, needs to be done by a licensed vendor and may have different use guidelines than those for digital media. Check out the Licensing 101 doc. and find more information on the Licensing website.
If you require design support that is beyond our in-house capacity (e.g., you need a designer for a report), please explore UpWork or we can recommend graphic designers.
- Review the UC Berkeley Brand Guidelines
- Consider UC Berkeley's Creative Lab for logo design, graphic design, advertising, photography, and in-house print services.
- Consider Bear Buy-verified Freelance and Consultants for other creative projects.

- Aberdeen Broadcast Services can provide live captioning in multiple languages for a reasonable rate. They also provide post-production services. ABS is a vendor in the Berkeley financial system and your unit can enter into a business relationship for their services.
- If you ever need captions for a presentation in PowerPoint, there's a built-in function for generating them, which is free to use. Even if you don't plan on displaying the presentation, you can create captions by adding a single blank, black screen, so the captions will show without the screen being visible. Here are instructions on how to do it.
Post-Event
-
Upload the video to YouTube or your preferred platform
-
Enable auto-captions if available
-
