Ordering Branded Items
If you are responsible for ordering merchandise or apparel for your team or upcoming events, be sure to review the licensing requirements to protect UC Berkeley’s Intellectual Property. The Licensing Program works to strengthen and advance the image of the University while creating brand awareness in the retail marketplace. Campus Intellectual Property on products, no matter what the use, needs to be done by a licensed vendor and may have different use guidelines than those for digital media. Check out the Licensing 101 doc. and find more information on the Licensing website.
Event Accessibility
Pre-Event
-
Consider including in the event description when applicable:
-
Event Media Notice: Photographers will be taking pictures and/or videos of the event and its participants; if you want to opt out of being included in any public photography or videography, please notify an event organizer.
-
COVID-19: We cannot guarantee that all guests attending the event have been vaccinated. Please review current UC Berkeley COVID-19 policies and resources. This information may be updated at any time and changes to local and state health regulations may alter event plans.
-
Accommodations: If you require an accommodation for effective communication (ASL interpreting/CART captioning, alternative media formats, etc.) or information about campus mobility access features in order to fully participate in this event, please contact our access coordinator, [insert contact info] with as much advance notice as possible and at least 7-10 days in advance of the event.
-
Request that any presenters with slide decks adhere to the color contrast requirements
During Event
-
Consider an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter through https://dac.berkeley.edu/home
- Consider live captioning
- Live captioning checklist for remote events
- Live captioning checklist for in-person events
- Aberdeen Broadcast Services can provide live captioning in multiple languages for a reasonable rate. They also provide post-production services. ABS is a vendor in the Berkeley financial system and your unit can enter into a business relationship for their services.
- If you ever need captions for a presentation in PowerPoint, there's a built-in function for generating them, which is free to use. Even if you don't plan on displaying the presentation, you can create captions by adding a single blank, black screen, so the captions will show without the screen being visible. Here are instructions on how to do it.
Post-Event
-
Upload the video to YouTube or your preferred platform
-
Enable auto-captions if available
-
Submit for captioning with 3Play Media: how to order services for your files
Public Relations
- Press Release Template
- The Events Speaker Database is an internal website housing a growing database of campus speakers — faculty and staff — for events. Launched in late June 2023, it requires a CalNet login to access and includes info on speakers' areas of expertise, at which events they have appeared, and more. The website was a collaboration between the External Relations and Marketing Communications teams within External Relations & Marketing Communications. Anyone with a CalNet ID can submit a speaker for the database!
