Chicanx Latinx Taskforce Launch

Dear Students, Staff, Faculty and Alumni,

As the Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion and the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, we thank you for your nominations to serve on the newly formed UC Berkeley Chicana/o and Latina/o Taskforce.

The taskforce has been charged with addressing campus climate issues including mapping, assessing and providing recommendations, and giving strategies to campus administrators to address the various needs of the Chicana/o and Latina/o communities on the UC Berkeley campus, including the needs of undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, alumni, and staff.

The taskforce will convene by March 2016, set an internal timeline they feel is reasonable and deliver recommendations in 2016. It is expected that the taskforce will meet at least twice per month in order to carry out its charge in a timely manner. It may also form work teams or sub-committees to carry out research or information gathering. Staffing and analytical support will be provided.

The selected names of students (undergraduate and graduate), staff, faculty and alumni are listed below. We look forward to this opportunity to begin to bring about further, positive institutional change here at UC Berkeley.

Best regards,

Na'ilah Suad Nasir
Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion
