Being an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander*-Serving Institution (AANAPISI) means that UC Berkeley has a significant population of Asian American and Pacific Islander students on our campus and meets additional requirements set by the US Department of Education. The AANAPISI designation gives UC Berkeley the opportunity to expand the support, resources, and services we offer to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AA and PI) people and communities across our campus by creating institutional infrastructures and inclusive cultures.

*The term "Native American Pacific Islander" used by the federal government in this context means any descendant of the aboriginal people of any island in the Pacific Ocean that is a territory or possession of the United States. For more information, see federal definitions here.
