The Office for Equity & Inclusion is proud to announce the appointment of Sidalia Reel, Ed.D. as the Director of Staff Diversity Initiatives at Berkeley. The Director of Staff Diversity Initiatives is a position on campus charged with engaging staff and management to ensure staff diversity throughout the campus at all levels of employments; to foster an inclusive workplace environment with a welcoming climate; and to link staff diversity efforts to the public mission of the university in support of a holistic vision for the campus. The position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Equity & Inclusion, Gibor Basri.

Sidalia comes to the UC Berkeley from the Hewlett-Packard Company where she led the Diversity and Inclusion organization, and consulted with company leaders worldwide on developing and implementing diversity and inclusion strategies, programs and policies. Prior to joining HP, Sidalia was the Diversity Manager at Pacific Bell.

Her background includes more than 20 years of corporate and consulting positions in human resources, instructional design, teaching and management. She is a member of the Diversity Collegiums' think tank and several other diversity focused organizations.

She has an Ed.D. in Human Performance from the School of Education at the University of Southern California. She received her masters of education administration from Harvard University and a bachelor's degree in sociology from Scripps College. Sidalia was born and raised in Berkeley and is a graduate of Berkeley High School.
