Frank C. Worrell

2011 CAAIE Award PhotoFrank C. Worrell is a Professor (Cognition and Development) and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs of the Graduate School of Education (GSE) at UC Berkeley. He is also the Faculty Director for the Academic Talent Development Program within the GSE, as well as for the California College Preparatory Academy, a charter school in partnership with UC Berkeley, the Aspire Public Schools, and Berkeley City College. Professor Worrell's research examines psychosocial variables that are related to academic achievement and promote resilience, especially in adolescent, African American, Caribbean, and gifted and talented populations. He also studies the psychometric properties of scores on instruments used to measure psychosocial constructs. He is a longstanding advocate for educational equity and the development of academic achievement for all students, including those from low-income and historically underrepresented backgrounds.
