The Division of Equity & Inclusion provides support for departmental planning efforts as well as a range of tools and resources on data collection, analysis, self-assessment, and goal-setting.

The UC Berkeley Strategic Plan for Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity provides a guide and a set of strategies for achieving transformational change on teaching and research related to equity, inclusion, and diversity; access and success for underrepresented populations; and inclusive campus climate.

To help bring these strategies to life at the department level, all academic and administrative units conduct their own strategic planning and assessment processes on equity, inclusion, and diversity. These planning efforts provide the opportunity to look broadly at programs and services, demographics, curriculum, and teaching, scholarship, mentoring, advancement, success rates, and climate issues — all in relation to the rich range of identity groups the campus serves. This is a chance for units to celebrate and expand their accomplishments, as well as to identify ways in which they hope to grow over the next several years.
