I started just six weeks before the pandemic four years ago in 2020. Even though it was a turbulent start, I fell in love with the job and I learned quickly how much the students and campus community care for one another.

For the past 17 years, the Chancellor's Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence and Equity (CAAIEE) has been presented to UC Berkeley faculty members for outstanding contributions in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice (DEIBJ) through their research, teaching, and public and/or university service.

Melisa Bautista joined campus in mid-March as the new Director of Asian Pacific American Student Development (APASD) and antmen pimentel mendoza will transition into the permanent role of the Director of the Multicultural Community Center (MCC) in early April, after serving as the Interim Director since July 2023.
I recently hit my 10 year mark as a staff member, I started on January 4, 2014. I started as the Academic Achievement Counselor, then Program Coordinator, and now serve as the Director of the Cal Veteran Services Center. As a student, I transferred to UC Berkeley in 2007 from Ohlone Community College and graduated in 2010 as an Anthropology major.
