Advisory Council on Campus Climate, Culture, and Inclusion

  1. Provide ongoing evaluation of campus climate conditions, practices and policies;
  2. Suggest measures that will support the goals of inclusion and community, especially including measures reflecting promising practices from elsewhere in the University of California system and the nation;
  3. Coordinate its analyses, recommendations and other work with related efforts of any UC Berkeley entities created by faculty, staff, students, or neighboring communities;
  4. Fulfill other campus-specific responsibilities identified by the Chancellor;
  5. Report annually to the public on information about its activities and other items the Council or the Chancellor deem appropriate.

The UC Berkeley campus has several teams who already work to monitor and address campus climate issues and plan events and activities to improve campus climate. Under the framework of the Advisory Council on Campus Climate, Culture and Inclusion, joint sessions of delegates from these teams will be instituted, meeting once per semester during the academic year.  The current groups included in this are: a) the Senior Administration Campus Climate Team, b) the Undergraduate Campus Climate Team, and c) the E&I Campus Climate Team. Each team will remain committed to its own sphere of action and practice while being made aware of the goals and concerns of the other groups.  The Advisory Council meetings will be chaired by the Chancellor.
