Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to submit nominations for the 2008 Chancellor's Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence (CAAIE).

CAAIE, now in its third year, is a grant presented annually to distinguished faculty members at the University of California, Berkeley for distinctive contributions in enhancing diversity and equal opportunity. The criteria for the award are based on those in the University of California Academic Personnel Manual (APM-210), which encourages contributions in research, teaching, and public service that promote diversity and equal opportunity. As stated in the APM policy: "These contributions to diversity can take a variety of forms including efforts to advance equitable access to education, public service that addresses the needs of California's diverse population, or research in a scholar's area of expertise that highlights inequalities."

Please submit nominations for the award to the Office for Faculty Equity by January 25, 2008. You can find the nomination guidelines here.

Sincerely,

Angelica M. Stacy,
Associate Vice Provost for
Faculty Equity
